titleOfInvention Preparation of 1-6 c alkanesulfonic acid
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a compound useful as a phosphoric acid substitute in a phosphorus-free detergent in a high purity and in a high yield by reacting an alkali salt of an alkanesulfonic acid with hydrogen chloride. n CONSTITUTION: An alkali salt of a linear or branched 1-6 C alkali sulfonic acid is reacted with gaseous hydrogen chloride in a 1-4 C monoalkanol solution or suspension. The alkali chloride precipitated during the reaction is removed by a method such as filtration or centrifugation and separated from the 1-4 C monoalkanol phase by e.g. evaporation to obtain a sodium salt of a 1-6 C alkanesulfonic acid as a sodium salt. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
