titleOfInvention Production of adiponitrile
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain adiponitrile at an increased rate of reaction by subjecting pentenonitrile and hydrogen cyanide to a hydrocyanation reaction in the presence of a catalyst being a combination of a zerovalent nickel catalyst with two catalyst promoters. n CONSTITUTION: Pentenonitrile and hydrogen cyanide are subjected to an addition reaction in the presence of a zero-valent nickel catalyst and a catalyst promoter to obtain the purpose product. It requires that the addition reaction should be carried out in the presence of a combination of two Lewis acid promoters LA and LS, the rate constant K 1 of isomerization of 3-pentenonitrile into 4- pentenonitrile in the presence of the first Lewis acid promoter LAA should be larger than that in the presence of the second promoter LAS, and the rate constant K 2 of conversion of 4-pentenonitrile into adiponitrile in the presence of LAB should be larger than K 2 in the presence of LAA. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
