titleOfInvention Polyphenylene ether capped by epoxytriazine and its manufacture
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a polyphenylene ether capped by an epoxytriazine having a specified terminal and excellent in physical property and compatibility when used in a mixture with an impact reforming agent by reaction a polyphenylene ether with an epoxychlorotriazine. n CONSTITUTION: (A) A monohydroxy aromatic compound (e.g.; 2,6-xylenol or the like) is reacted with an oxidation coupling agent (e.g.; quinone, formal or the like) to provide a polyphenylene ether preferably having a number average molecular weight of 3000-40000 and a natural viscosity of 0.15-0.6 dl/g. (B) An epoxychlorotriazine is added thereto, and a basic reagent, for example, is added thereto to react them, whereby the objective polymer having an epoxytriazine terminal represented by formula I [Q 1 is a halogen, an alkyl or the like; Q 2 is H, phenyl or the like; X is an alkyl or formula II (R 1 is an aliphatic group or the like)] is provided. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
