abstract PURPOSE: To improve the wavelength response of a coinitiator for ethylenic addition comprising a hardernable organic component having an ethylenically unsaturated site and an activator and a photosensitizer by using a specified benzofuran dye for the photosensitizer. n CONSTITUTION: The photosensntizer is a 6-tertiary amino-2-(Z=CH-) benzofuran dye having a novel chromophore obtained by adding a substituent of the formula -CH=Z to the 2-position of the 6-tertiary aminobenzofuran dye. In the formula, Z is an atomic group for giving an electron attractive carbonyl or sulfonyl group and conjugated method groups for completing a resonant dye chromophere comprising an 6-tertiary amino group as an electron donor and an-electron attractive group as an electron acceptor, thus permitting the wavelength responce based on the activator for hardening the ethylenically unsaturated organic component and the photosensitization coinitiator to be enlarged to the longer wavelength side. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
