abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound having high catalyst activity, used as an agent for improving dyeing properties of fiber and high polymer flocculant in high yield by carrying out reaction of an alkyl (meta)acrylate with a dialkylaminoalkyl alcohol in the presence of a specific catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: An alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate used as a raw material is reacted with an alkylamino alcohol using at least one kind of β-diketone cobalt compounds, especially preferably acetylacetonato cobalt as a catalyst, preferably at a molar ratio of the above-mentioned compound to dialkylamino alcohol of 1.0-10.0, especially 1.1-5.0 under ordinary pressure at 50-150°C, especially 60-120°C to provide the aimed compound. Furthermore, a polymerization inhibitor is preferably added to the reaction system and optimal addition amount thereof is preferably 0.05-1wt.% based on the total charge weight. The above- mentioned catalyst is preferably used at an amount of 0.1-5.0mol% based on the dialkylaminoalkyl alcohol. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
