titleOfInvention | Flexible ceramic sheet and production thereof |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title flexible sheet other than of carbon without relaying on organic matter such as paste by mutually sintering ceramic flaky fine pieces into a sheet form. n CONSTITUTION: Flaky fine pieces (abbreviated as 'flakes') of a raw material, a ceramic precursor to be made into a ceramics by calcination, are put to papermaking process followed by calcination to obtain the objective flexible ceramic sheet. For this sheet, at least part of it consists of flaky ceramics, and at least part thereof is fused and sintered. Here, 'flaky' means a thin leaf form ≤1cm 2 in size and ≤100μ in thickness. This sheet has sufficient flexibility, being excellent in resistance to heat, chemicals and oxidation. In addition to the papermaking of said flakes alone, mixed papermaking can also be made using said flakes plus ceramic fiber, carbon fiber and/or precursor fiber of ceramic fiber. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
