abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having a low surface resistivity value even at low humidity and controlled in charge by applying an aqueous coating solution containing antimony doped tin oxide and an org. polymer binder having specific physical properties to at least the single surface of a polyester film and, after the drying and stretching of the coating film, applying heat treatment to said film to complete crystal orientation. CONSTITUTION:Antimony doped tin oxide and an org. polymer binder are combined to be applied to the single surface or both surfaces of a polyester film before crystal orientation is completed. As the org. polymer binder, a polyurethane resin or an acrylic resin is pref. used. This binder can be formed into a uniform aqueous coating solution and has characteristics such that 100% modulus of elasticity is 20kg/cm<2> or less and breaking extension is 700% or more. The conductive film thus obtained has a surface resistivity value of 10<6>-10<9>OMEGA on the coating film side thereof.
