titleOfInvention 4-halogeno-5-pyrazolecarboxylic acid derivative
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R 1 is 1-4C alkyl, benzyl or difluoromethyl; R 2 is 1-4C alkyl or cyclopropyl; R 3 is H or 1-5C alkyl; X is halogen; but when both R 1 and R 2 are metyl, R 3 is 3-5C alkyl). n EXAMPLE: 1-Methyl-3-ethyl-4-bromo-5-pyrazolecarboxylic acid ethyl ester. n USE: An intermediate for drugs and insecticidal and acaricidal agents. n PREPARATION: A compound of formula II (Z is 1-5C alkyl) is reacted with a halogenating agent in a solvent such as CCl 4 or benzene or in the absence of a solvent at 0°C - the refluxing temperature of the solution to provide the compound of formula I wherein R 3 is alkyl. The resultant compound of formula I is further hydrolyzed in the presence of an alkali in water or an alcohol at 20-100°C to provide the compound of formula I wherein R 3 is H. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
