titleOfInvention Production of diphenylamine derivative
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a compound useful as a raw material for producing coloring color formers useful as a fluoran compound by reacting a domophenol ether derivative with an anilide derivative and then hydrolyzing the resultant compound. n CONSTITUTION: A bromophenol ether derivative expressed by formula I (R is lower alkyl; benzene nucleus A may further contain lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or halogen as a substituent group) is reacted with an anilide derivative expressed by formula II (R' is H or lower alkyl; benzene nucleus B may contain halogen or lower alkyl as a substituent group) in a solvent, such as dichlorobenzene or trichlorobenzene, at 150-200°C to afford a compound expressed by formula III, which is then hydrolyzed to provide the objective substance expressed by formula IV. The reaction is carried out by using the compound expressed by formula I in an amount of 0.8-2.0mol based on the compound expressed by formula II. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
