titleOfInvention Cationically electrodepositable fine particulate gel polymer and its production
abstract PURPOSE: To make a polymer useful as a rheology controlling agent for a cationic electrodeposition coating material by forming an internally crosslinking fine particulate gel polymer having alkoxysilane, hydroxy and cationic groups. n CONSTITUTION: The title polymer is obtained by emulsionpolymerizing 1-30wt.%, desirably, 3-20wt.% vinylsilane having a vinylically unsaturated bond and a hydrolyzable alkoxysilane group (e.g., γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) with 1-30wt.%, desirably, 3-20wt.% monomer having at least two radical- polymerizable unsaturated groups (e.g., 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate), 1-30wt.% desirably, 3-20wt.% monomer having a vinylically unsaturated bond and a hydroxy group (e.g., 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate) and 10-97wt.%, desirably, 40-91wt.% other monomers (e.g., styrene) in the presence of an allylic cationic reactive emulsifier (e.g., a compound of the formula, Latemul K-180, a product of Kao). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
