titleOfInvention Photograhic element
abstract PURPOSE: To restrain production of fog comprising small spots and to enhance dot quality by incorporating a specified monomethine benzothiazole derivative in a photographic emulsion high in contrast and containing a hydrazine derivative. n CONSTITUTION: The negative high-contrast photographic emulsion contains the hydrazine derivative (A) and the monomethine benzothmazole derivative (B), preferably, such as a compound of formula II having a nucleus represented by formula I, in an amount of (B) of 1×10 -5 -5×10 -2 mol per 1mol of silver halide, and in formula II, one of R 1 and R 2 is an organic acid functional group and the other is an H atom or an alkyl group or the like; and each of R 3 and R 4 is a substituent of a cyanine dye. As the hydrazine derivative (A), a preferable compound is represented by formula III in which R 23 is an aryl group; one of R 24 and R 25 is an H atom and the other is an H atom or an arylsulfonyl group or the like; G is a carbonyl or sulfonyl group or the like; and X is a group to be a part for causing a prescribed cyclization reaction. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
