abstract NEW MATERIAL:An alkynyloxyphenylpyrimidine compound of formula I (R is 3-10C alkynyl; R' is 1-12C straight chain alkyl). n EXAMPLE: 5-n-Octyl-2-{4-(2-butynyloxy)pyenyl}pyrimidine. n USE: Useful as a drug, agricultural chemical or liquid crystal compound or an intermediate thereof. Since the compound has excellent reactivity, the compound is useful as an synthetic intermediate for various compounds, especially as a synthetic intermediate for phenylpyrimidine compounds used as liquid crystal compounds.
