abstract PURPOSE: To prevent decrease of sensitivity of a silver halide photographic sensitive material by incorporating at least one kind of compd. having a specified pigment precursor residual group into the silver halide photographic sensitive material. n CONSTITUTION: At least one kind of compds. having a pigment precursor residual group expressed by A-B is incorporated into a silver halide photographic sensitive material. A is group which liberates B in a form of image as a function of development of silver halide, and B is a residual group which transforms unreacted A-B remaining after a reaction in the presence of Ag(I) ion or soluble Ag complex in a development to a dyestuff having an absorption in the visible region. Preferred compd. expressed by A-B is a compd. which liberates B by reacting with an oxidized body of a developing agent which is generated in a developing soln. in accompany with the development of silver halide. Preferred B is a compd. which is diffused into a processing soln. after it is cleaved from A.
