titleOfInvention Polyaryl ether ketone
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a polyaryl ether ketone having a high secondorder transition point and excellent solvent resistance and mechanical properties, mainly consisting of specified aryl ether ketone repeating units and having a specific intrinsic viscosity. n CONSTITUTION: A polyaryl ether ketone mainly consisting of repeating units of the formula and having an inherent viscosity ≥0.3. When the viscosity is below 0.3, the polymer is undesirable because of its unsatisfactory mechanical properties. The intrinsic viscosity is patricularly desirably 0.5 or above. The above polymer contains naphthalene rings in its chain, so that it is featured by that it is a crystalline or difficultly crystallizable polymer having a second- order transition point (Tg) higher than that of a polyaryl ether ketone having a phenylene group in the skeleton only and having excellent solvent resistance. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
