titleOfInvention Antibacterial silica gel and antibacterial resin
abstract PURPOSE: To provide the subject silica gel composed of a specified silica gel, excellent in antibacterial properties and anti-algae properties, capable of improving heat resistance and abrasion resistance, having a large surface area due to porosity thereof, capable of formation of glassy ultrafine particles, having low tinting properties due to the directly abovementioned nature and useful for resins, rubbers, etc., because of the abovementioned characteristics, etc. n CONSTITUTION: The subject silica gel is composed of a silica gel represented by formula I containing one or more antibacterial salts of metals such as silver, copper and zinc in a colloidal solution prepared by dispersing ultrafine particles of silicic anhydride into water as a dispersion medium, an inorganic silicon compound consisting of a silica gel expressed by formula II composed of glassy transparent or translucent particles having a crude crystalline fine structure and a large surface area and an antibacterial silica gel prepared by hydrolyzing tetraalkoxysilane of formula III (R 1 is 1 to 5C hydrocarbon residue) and an organosilicone compound such as an organoalkoxysilane of formula IV (R 2 is 1 to 8C organic group; R 3 is 1 to 5C alkyl or 1 to 4C acyl). The subject silica gel can be used by addition thereof to a resin, a rubber, a paint, a joint compound, a fiber, paper, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
