abstract | PURPOSE: To adjust freely generation speed of chlorine dioxide and make a smooth surface under normal temperature by using a composition containing carrageenan as a gelatinizer and changing the hydrogen ion concentration of the gelatinized composition. n CONSTITUTION: The effective volume of water solution containing chlorite of metal or alkaline earth metal and/or stabilized chlorine dioxide (chlorine dioxide generating agent) is added into a composition containing carrageenan and heat solubilized while being agitated. Further, the proper volume of an acid compound or an alkali compound is added therein to adjust the hydrogen ion concentration. After that, the same is cooled down to the normal temperature and gelatinized.
