titleOfInvention New exophiala species
abstract PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the isomer of an optically active substituted 2-propionic acid (derivative) by culturing the cell of a specific species in Exophiala wilhansii in the presence of an optically active substituted 2-propionic acid (derivative). n CONSTITUTION: The cell of Exophiala wilhansii (e.g. CBS 54788) is cultured in a culture medium containing an optically active substituted 2-propionic acid (derivative) [e.g. 2-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)propionic acid] to obtain the optically active substituted 2-propionic acid (derivative). Thereby, e.g. an optically active substituted α-propionic acid (derivative) rich in the (R) isomer can be produced from the (R, S) isomers of the optically active substituted α-propionic acid. The species is also cultured together with a substituted alkane corresponding to the optically active α-propionic acid, thus stereo-specifically oxidizing the substituted alkane to produce the optically active substituted α-propionic acid rich in the (S) isomer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
