titleOfInvention Gelable water-base composition
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a gelable water-base compsn, of which the delay time of gelation is controllable by dissolving a water-soluble org. polymer crosslinkable with a polyvalent metal ion crosslinker, a Cr (III) ion crosslinker, and a specific ligand in water. n CONSTITUTION: This compsn. having a pH of 7.0 or lower is obtd. by dissolving 1,000-50,000 ppm water-soluble org, polymer (A) crosslinkable with a polyvalent metal ion crosslinker and selected from among natural high-molecular substances (e.g. xanthan gum, guar gum, CMC, hydroxyethylcellulose, or a modified starch) and water-soluble synthetic polymers [e.g. (partially hydrolyzed) polyacrylamide or an acrylamide copolymer], 10-50,000 ppm Cr (III) ion crosslinker (B) comprising a chloride, nitrate, or sulfate of Cr (III), and a ligand (C) for ingredient B selected from among water-soluble α-amino acids represented by the formula [R is 1-15C (pref. 1-5C) linear or branched alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl; and X is hydroxy or amino] and org. α-hydroxyacids in water in a wt. ratio of ingredient A/B of (1/1)-(1,000/1). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
