PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retarding resin composition improved in flame retardancy without causing any decrease in mechanical properties and any deterioration of low-temperature resistance, etc., by grafting a maleimide monomer onto an olefin polymer. n CONSTITUTION: A maleimide monomer (e.g. N,N'-m-phenylenebismaleimide) is grafted onto 100 pts.wt. olefin polymer (e.g. ethylene/propylene copolymer) in the presence of 0.01 to 3 pts.wt. organic peroxide (e.g. dicumyl peroxide) as a polymerization initiator to obtain a polymer containing 0.1 to 50wt.% maleimide monomer. This polymer is optionally mixed with a softener, an antioxidant, a colorant, etc., to obtain the subject composition. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
