abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare an aldehyde compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for hydrazone compounds used for photo-conductive materials by reacting 4,4'- diformyltriphenylamine with 1,1-diphenylmethylphosphonic acid ester. n CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I is reacted with a compound of formula II (R is lower alkyl) in the presence of a base (e.g. sodium methylate) in a solvent such as N,N'-dimethylformamide at 10 to 110°C to prepare an aldehyde of formula III. The compound of formula II, the base and the solvent are employed in amounts of 0.5 equivalent time, 0.5 equivalent time and 1 to 20 weight times, respectively, that of the compound of formula I. The aldehyde compound of formula III can give hydrazone compounds useful as photo- coductive materials used for photo-sensitizing layers in the field of electro- photographic sensitizers. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
