abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a waterproof cloth having high lasting water resistance after washing without impairing essential hand by subjecting the cloth woven at a high density using ultrafine fiber to repeated water repellent treatment and sufficiently permeating a water repellent into the interior of fiber. n CONSTITUTION: A cloth prepared by weaving ultrafine fiber having ≤1.2d single fiber size at a high density is subjected to repeated padding treatment with a dilute solution of a water repellent (prepared example; fluorine-based water repellent) in ≤1% concentration to sufficiently permeate the above-mentioned water repellent into the interior of fiber and increase covering degree with the water repellent. Thereby, waterproof cloth, having ≥15min lasting water resistance at 400mm after washing 5 times and excellent in washing durability is obtained.
