titleOfInvention Production of flame-retardant heat-resistant homopolymer
abstract In order to prepare novel flame-retardant, thermostable homopolyimides containing structural units of the formula n<IMAGE>n by reacting 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride with an, in total, equimolar amount of 2,4- and/or 2,6-tolylene diisocyanate, the reaction is carried out in the presence of a polymerisation accelerator. n<??>The novel homopolyimides have a glass transition temperature of at least 320 DEG C and can be converted into mouldings having a similar structural strength to that observed hitherto only for copolyimides. In addition, the novel homopolyimides can be spun to form fibres.
