titleOfInvention Preparation of trifluoromethanesulfonyl chloride
abstract PURPOSE: To easily obtain the subject compd. of a high purity useful as a chemical agent used in the production of an org. intermediate in a high yield by reacting chlorine and water with bis-(trifluoromethyl)disulfane easy to obtain as a starting substance in the liquid phase. n CONSTITUTION: 5 mol of chlorine and 4 mol of water are reacted with 1 mol of bis-(trifluoromethyl)disulfane obtained by fluorinating trichloromethylsulfenyl chloride by NaF in a liquid phase pref. composed of an acidic medium such as a 5-39 wt.% conc. hydrochloric acid aq. soln. in the presence of a catalyst composed of fluorinated sulfonamide such as nonafluorobutanesulfonamide at a temp. of -18 to 120°C under a pressure of 1-100 bar for 2-72hr, and the reaction mixture is treated by phase separation and/or evaporation to obtain an objective compd. This reaction can be executed at relatively low temp. and is excellent in relation to a problem of corrosion and energy cost, and this compd. can be produced in an industrial scale. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
