titleOfInvention Silver halide photographic sensitive material
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material spectrally sensitized high in sensitivity in the near infrared region and low in staining and fogging due to a residual dyestuff by incorporating at least one of tricarbocyanine dyestuffs represented by a specified formula. n CONSTITUTION: A silver halide photographic emulsion contains at least one of the tricarbocyanine dyestuffs represented by general formula I in which Z 1 is an atomic group necessary to form a thiazole, benzothiazole, or naphthothiazole ring; Z 2 is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form a 5- or 6-membered ring having a methylene group; Z 3 is an atomic group necessary to form a phenanthrene ring; each of R 1 and R 2 is alkyl or alkenyl, optionally same or different; X is an acid anion; and n is 1 or 2, thus permitting the obtained photographic sensitive material to be spectrally sensitized, high in sensitivity in the near infrared region and small in staining and fogging due to a residual dyestuff, and stably maintained in photographic characteristics during storage. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
