titleOfInvention Reductive dechlorination of 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoro-2 chloroethane
abstract PURPOSE: To easily obtain 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane in a high conversion ratio by subjecting 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoro-2-chloroethane to reductive dechlorination in a specific solvent at specific temp. by using Zn in the presence of a proton source. n CONSTITUTION: 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoro-2-chloroethane is subjected to reductive dechlorination for 5 min-20 hr in a polar aprotic solvent such as dimethylformamide in the presence of a proton source such as pyridinium acetate at 250°C under a pressure of 1-200 atm by using finely divided elemental Zn or metal Zn to obtain the objective compd. useful as a solvent, a propellant, especially, a cooling medium. As the above mentioned proton source, an ammonium component represented by formula NR 3 H + [wherein R is H, 1-4C alkyl or (substd.)pyridinium] and ammonium carboxylate composed of a carboxylate component of 1-8C alkyl or aryl such as acetate are pref. used. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
