abstract | PURPOSE: To treat patients who have trouble with chronic pain or chronic cough without inducing the intestinal dyscinesia by orally administrating opioid analgesics or antitussive and opioide antagonists or the precursors. n CONSTITUTION: This treatment is carried out by orally administrating a pharmaceutically efficient amount of opioid analgesics or antitussives (e.g. morphine, meperidine, oxycodone, hydromorphone, methadone, codeine, hydrocodone and propoxyphene) and opioid antagonists (e.g. naloxone) or antagonist precursors (e.g. naloxone-glucuronide and nalmefene-glucuronide) having no substantial competitive inhibition when administrated to patients 1-5 times a day to display systematic analgesic or central antitussive action without crisis of intestinal motor decrease. It is suitable to contain 1.5-100mg of the opioid analgesic or antitussive and 1-18mg. of the opioid antagonist or the antagonist precursor per dosage units. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO |
