abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a detergent desirable for use in re-washing with hard water by mixing a water-soluble to water-dispersible alkali metal polyphosphate or silicate with a monomer hydroxycarboxylate or a polymer aliphatic carboxylate. n CONSTITUTION: At least one water-soluble or water-dispersible inorganic salt belonging to an alkali metal polyphosphate or silicate (e.g. sodium metasilicate nonahydrate) is mixed with a monomer hydroxycarboxylate (e.g. sodium gluconate) or a polymer aliphatic carboxylate (e.g. imperfectly hydrolyzed polymaleic anhydride having a molecular weight of 500-5,000). The obtained mixture can give a water-free or aqueous detergent composition which can be used to re-washing a printed or dyed piece prepared by printing or dyeing a fibrous cellulosic material with a reactive dye.
