titleOfInvention Photosensitive material
abstract PURPOSE:To accelerate development and polymn. and to obtain an image having high image quality under milder development conditions by incorporating a borate compd. into a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:A borate compd. represented by formula I (where each of R1-R4 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, etc., and M is an alkali metal or prim. to quat. ammonium) is incorporated into a photosensitive layer. The borate compd. in the photosensitive layer is subjected to direct or indirect one-electron oxidation with silver halide to generate radical species and free radicals having polymn. initiating ability are generated from the radical species to accelerate development and polymn. A photosensitive material giving an image having superior discrimination under development conditions of low temp. and short time can be obtd.
