titleOfInvention Inorganic nonaqueous electrolyte battery
abstract PURPOSE: To decrease voltage drop in the initial stage in high rate discharge of a battery stored for a long time by forming an electrolyte with an oxyhalide containing a specified amount of water. n CONSTITUTION: In a battery using an oxyhalide as the electrolyte solvent and the positive active material and having a porous positive electrode 3 facing a negative electrode 1 through a separator 2, the electrolyte is formed with an oxyhalide added with 10-50ppm water. The electrolyte is prepared by distilling thionyl chloride, dissolving dried AlCl 3 and LiCl to synthesize LiAlCl 4 , and gradually adding water. A lithium chloride film on the negative lithium is easily broken when the battery is discharged in high rate, and voltage drop in the initial stage in discharge is decreased. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
