abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition capable of providing both of instant release and enteric release by compressing and tableting a mixture of first granules comprising finely divided particles of gemfibrozil with second granules obtained by subjecting the first granules to regranulation, etc., with an acid- disintegratable composition. n CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by compressing and tableting a mixture of first granules comprising finely divided particles of gemfibrozil [=5-(2,5-dimethylphenoxy)-2,2dimethylpentanoic acid] regranulated with at least one acid-disintgegratable binder such as fine crystalline cellulose or polyvinylpyrrolidone and widely used as antihyperlipoproteinemia with second granules comprising the first granules regranulated or coated with an alkali- disintegratable composition comprising at least one polymer which is substantially alkali-soluble and substantially acid-insoluble, e.g. cellulose phthalates or partially esterified poly(meth)acrylic acid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
