abstract PURPOSE: To make it possible to conduct patterning without developing by building up a film of a specified polymer compd. by Langmuir-Blodgett method and irradiating it with an excimer laser beam. n CONSTITUTION: A mixture of a polymer compd. (A) having a linear repeating unit prepd. by alternatingly connecting an org. group R 1 having at least 2C atoms and having at least divalent with another org. group R 2 having at least 2C atoms and being at least divalent and wherein hydrophobic characteristics are provided by incorporating one or more, pref. two 10-30C hydrocarbon groups R 3 which may contain a substituent bound to the same repeating unit through a covalent or ionic bond and providing a precursor structure forming a five- or six-membered ring and, if necessary, a well-known Langmuir-Blodgett film compd. are treated by the Langmuir-Blodgett method to give a built-up film and irradiated with an excimer laser beam with a pulse energy or 5mJ/cm 2 or higher. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
