PURPOSE: To provide a thermotropic liquid crystal compound exhibiting liquid crystal behavior in a proper temperature range and consisting of an organic polymer compound composed of a specific recurring unit having optically active group. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound contains the recurring unit of formula I [X is -(CH 2 )n- (n is 1-20) or group of formula II; Z is group of formula III-V (A is cyano, nitro, 1-20C alkyl, halogen or 1-6C alkoxy); Y is group of formula VI-IX (n is 1-12; n' is 3-12; * represents optically active group)] and has a number average molecular weight of 1,000-100,000. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
