PURPOSE: To obtain a skin drug for external use, containing an antioxidant selected from L-ascorbic acid, kojic acid, ferulic acid, etc., and a compound selected from ellagic acid-based compounds and alkali metal salts thereof and excellent in skin beautifying and whitening effects with high safety. n CONSTITUTION: A skin drug for external use containing (A) 0.01-5wt.% antioxidant selected from L-ascorbic acid, kojic acid, ferulic acid and derivatives thereof (B) 0.005-5wt.% compound selected from compounds expressed by formula I (R 1 to R 4 are H, 1-20C alkyl, alkoxy, polyoxyethylene, polyoxypropylene or group expressed by formula II; R 5 is H, OH 1-8C alkoxy) and alkali metal salts thereof. Arginine, glucose, etc., in an amount of 0.005-20wt.% can be also added to the above-mentioned drug for external use to better disperse the ingredient (B).
