titleOfInvention | Catheter with lubricating coating and preparation thereof |
abstract | PURPOSE: To develop easily and simply lubricating characteristics without using any special instrument by treating the surface of a synthetic resin substrate with a diisocyanate, drying it, treating it with a maleic anhydride copolymer or a deriv. thereof and immersing it in water. n CONSTITUTION: The surface of a substrate selected from a group consisting of polyurethane, nylon, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, vinyl chloride-urethane copolymer, silicone rubber and natural rubber is treated with a diisocyanate and dried. Then, it is treated with a maleic anhydride copolymer or a deriv. thereof and immersed in water. When the substrate is nylon, the surface of the substrate is treated with dil. hydrochloric acid to form carboxyl groups on the surface of said substrate and then treated successively with polyethyleneimine (a), a maleic anhydride copolymer (b) and water (c) and with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide in parallel and dried to obtain a catheter which exhibits immediately lubricating characteristics when it is made wet with an aq. medium. Among blood vessel catheters, for a selective arteriography catheter, segmented polyether urethane can be used in many cases from the view points of antithrombus characteristics, flexibility, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
