titleOfInvention | Ultraviolet-absorber |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain an ultraviolet-absorber having high extinction coefficient especially in UV-B wavelength range and excellent solubility, miscibility and compatibility to base material and solvent and mild to the skin by compounding 5-phenyl-2methylpentane-3,5-dione. n CONSTITUTION: The objective ultraviolet-absorber having high stability to heat and light and useful as an additive for cosmetics, plastic materials, etc., is produced by compounding 5-phenyl-2methylpentane-3,5-dione of formula in an amount of usually about 0.01-30wt.%, preferably about 0.1-10wt.%. The above compound can be easily synthesized e.g. by treating acetophenone and an isobutyric acid ester with sodium hydride. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
