abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R 1 and R 2 are lower alkyl; R 3 is H or lower alkanoyl; either one of R 4 and R 5 is H and the other is lower alkoxy, lower alkyl substituted phenylthio or hydroxy substituted lower alkylamino or both of them form formula II). n EXAMPLE: 3-Actoxymethyl-1-ethyl-5-methoxy-2-methyl-4,7-indroquinone [5-methoxy body] and 3-acetoxymethyl-1-ethyl-6-methoxy-2-methyl-4,7-indroquinon [6-methoxy body]. n USE: A medicine. The compound expressed by formula I has low toxicity and is useful as an anticancer agent or antimalarial drug. n PREPARATION: A compound expressed by formula II (either one of R 4a and R 5a is H and the other is lower alkyl substituted phenylthio) is reacted with a reducing agent such as NaBH 4 in an inert solvent to provide the compound expressed by formula I (R 4 and R 5 are R 4a and R 5a expressed by formula II). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
