PURPOSE: To simply obtain the title deriv. useful for stabilizing plastic, especially, a polyolefin molding compsn. in high purity by reacting a specific Grignard compd. with specific ester-chloride. n CONSTITUTION: 4,4'-Dihalobiphenyl containing halogen having an atomic wt. of at least 35 (i) is reacted with Mg under a Grignard condition (ii) to obtain a corresponding Grignard compd. A and the component A is reacted with a phosphorous-bis-(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl)-ester-chloride represented by formula I (B) to obtain a compsn. wherein at least 50 wt.% of P is bonded in a form of tetrakis-(2,4-di-t-butylphenyl)-4,4'-biphenylene-diphosphonite represented by formula II.
