abstract PURPOSE: To provide a compatibilized polyphenylene ether-polyamide compsn. which has been highly compatibilized and possesses excellent impact strength and solvent resistance by melt-blending a polyamide with a polyphenylene ether comprising structural units contg. a single carboxylic acid moiety. n CONSTITUTION: A polyamide, pref. nylon-6 or nylon-66, a polyphenylene ether comprising structural units having a single carboxylic acid moiety bonded to an arom. ring directly or through one (if any) C, e.g. a polyphenylene ether comprising a plurality of structural units of the formula (wherein Q 1 represents a halogen, a primary or secondary lower alkyl or the like; Q 2 represents H, a halogen or the like), pref. poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene ether), and pref. an impact resistance improver (e.g. a styrene-conjugated diene block copolymer) are melt-blended with each other or one another at 230 to 390°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
