titleOfInvention Apparatus for mapping sensing length for impedance measuring catheter in heart against ventricular dimension
abstract PURPOSE: To provide a new method for matching the sensing length of an impedance measuring catheter with the ventricular length dimension of a heart whose volume is to be measured, by including a sufficient number of surface electric poles to ensure the whole sensing length, or the distance between the end-most electric pole and the most base one to be enough to cross over the maximum ventricular length. n CONSTITUTION: The end-most electric pole 20 of an impedance measuring catheter 18 placed inside a right ventricle, is put on the apex 22 of a heart, passes through a tricuspid 29 and a right atrium 14, and is led to a right vena cava 26. The end part of the catheter 18 is provided with a plurality of surface electric poles which are conductive rings, an electric cable extends through a hollow part of a tube-type catheter 18, and electric poles A to Z are each individually connected to the conductive part of an electric module applicable to bind to the base part of the catheter 18 located outside a patient's body. That is, additional surface electric poles are included in this impedance measuring catheter so that the whole sensing length (the distance between the end-most electric pole and the most base one) crosses over the maximum ventricular length. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
