titleOfInvention | Hydrophilic-hydrophobic thermally reversible polymeric compound and production thereof |
abstract | PURPOSE: To provide the subject polymer having a specific mol.wt., reversibly changing into a water-soluble polymer at low temperatures and into a water- insoluble polymer at high temperatures and useful as a temperature sensor, etc., by radically polymerizing N-(2-methoxyethyl)-N-isopropylacrylamide. n CONSTITUTION: N-(2-Methoxyethyl)-N-isopropylacrylamide of formula I prepared e.g. by reacting acryloyl chloride with N-(2-methoxyethyl)-isopropylamine in the presence of triethylamine is polymerized in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator such as azobisisobutyronitrile in a medium such as methanol at 60°C for approximately 8hr to provide the objective polymer comprising repeating units of formula II and having a mol.wt. corresponding to an intrinsic viscosity [η] of 0.01-6.0 at 27°C in a tetrahydrofuran solution. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
