titleOfInvention | Production of reactive oligo-carbonate and polycarbonate |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title substance with no use of toxic phosgene by reaction of a dihydric phenol and bis(2,4,6-trichloro-phenyl) carbonate, bis(2,4- dichlorophenyl) carbonate or bis(2-cyanophenyl) carbonate in the presence of a catalyst selected from electron-donative amines under homogeneous solution polymerization conditions. n CONSTITUTION: The reaction between a dihydric phenol and bis(2,4,6-tri- chlorophenyl) carbonate, bis(2,4-dichlorophenyl) carbonate or bis-(2-cyanophenyl) carbonate is carried out in the presence of a catalyst selected from electron donor amines such as N,N-dimethyl-4-aminopyridine at 20-150° to give reactive oligo-carbonates. The dihydric phenol is selected from formals I through IV (R 1 through R 4 are H, 1-8C alkyl, phenyl; X is halogen; n is 0 to 4). The reactive oligocarbonate or co-oligo-carbonate is heated under vacuum to give polycarbonate or copolycarbonate. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
