abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a postoperative adhesion-reducing composition that contains a specific polyoxyalkylene block copolymer and reduces formation and/or reformation of postoperative adhesion of incised parts of mammal's organs in peritoneum or abdominal cavity. n CONSTITUTION: This postoperative adhesion-reducing composition comprises a copolymer of formula I (A is an oxyalkylene part whose O/C atom ratio is less than 0.5; (x) is at least 1; Y is water or a group derived from an organic compound having a number (n) of reactive H; E is a polyoxyethylene part; (n) is a measurement of hydroxyl value of an intermediate of formula II when the average molecular weight of A is 500-900; overall average molecular weight of the copolymer is 5000 or more), for example, a copolymer of formula III {(a) is an integer selected so that a hydrophobic base has molecular weight of 1000 or more; polyoxyethylene chains is 60wt.% or more] or formula III [(a) and (b) are each integer selected so that the hydrophobic part has a molecular weight of 2000 and that its content is 60wt.% or more]. To this composition, humectants, germicides, bacteriostats, agents for preventing leukocytes from transmigration to an incised part after operation, and fibrinolytic agents are further added. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
