abstract NEW MATERIAL:A lactitol monohydrate crystal having a molecular formula of C 12 H 24 O 11 .H 2 O, melting point of 102-105°C and an analysis diagram of crystal structure by X-ray expressed by the figure. Besides, said substance has following physicochemical properties: element analysis (%): C 39.6, H 7.3, and O 53.1; molecular weight: 362.3; specific rotatory power: [α] =+14.1° (containing 0.1g in 1cc water); solubility: solubility in water at 25°C is 55%; color: colorless, transparent crystal; dissolving properties: readily soluble in water, 0.1 N NaOH and 0.1 N HCl, soluble in methanol, hardly soluble in ethanol and insoluble in chloroform or ethyl acetate, etc. n USE: Sweetening agent having low calorie. n PREPARATION: The aimed crystal is precipitated from aqueous solution of lactitol (preferably purity of lactitol is ≥95wt.% per solid) preferably at 20-70°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
