abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a skin drug for external use, excellent in antimicrobial action and stability, safe for human bodies and effective in suppressing acne by containing tetrahydroabietic acid acid prepared by hydrogenating abietic acid extracted from a pinaceous plant and/or ester derivative thereof. n CONSTITUTION: A skin drug for external use, such as medicine, quasi-drug or cosmetic, obtained by containing tetrahydroabietic acid prepared by hydrogenating abietic acid extracted from a pinaceous plant and/or ester derivative thereof as an active ingredient. The active ingredient is preferably contained in an amount of 0.001-10wt.%, especially 0.1-3wt.% amount of dried residue in the total weight of the skin drug for external use. The active ingredient is a vegetable ingredient effective in suppressing acne and the above-mentioned drug is a skin drug for external use, extremely effective against various bacterial dermatophathies, such as acne vulgaris, and excellent in safety and stability. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio
