NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I {R is lower alkyl; R' is H or lower alkyl; X is cycloalkyl, hyroxyl group-having alkyl, phenyl group-having alkyl, bicycloalkyl, naphthylalkyl, acenaphthylenylalkyl or a group of formula II or III [Z is H, OH or lower alkyl; Q is H or OH; A is -CH 2 -, -O-, -S- or direct bond; Y is -(CH 2 ) n - (n is 1-3) or direct bond; bashed line part is single bond or double bond]}. n EXAMPLE: N 6 -Cyclopentyl-2'-O-methyladenosine. n USE: A hypertension remedy. The compound is highly safe and can be orally administered. n PREPARATION: The 3 and 5 positions of the saccharide portion are protected with protecting groups such as tetraisopropyldisiloxane and an O-alkyl bond is selectively formed at the 2 position.
