| abstract |
PURPOSE: To fluidize soap stock, to enable transfer by a pump and to obtain a feedstuff product by adding propionic acid to crude soap stock obtd. by alkali refining of fat and dissolving gum in the stock. n CONSTITUTION: Propionic acid is added is added to crude soap stock obtd. by alkali refining of fat by an amt. enough to dissolve gum existing in the stock, preferably 0.5-40wt.%, and the pH is lowered preferably to ≤6 to obtain acidified soap stock. It is preferable that an inorg. acid such as phosphoric acid, hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid is further added.
