abstract NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula I (wherein R 1 and R 2 are each H, trifluoromethyl or cyano; A is CHOH or CO; and Y is H or acyl) and an epimer of a compd. represented by the formula when group A is CHOH. n EXAMPLE: (2-Benzoyl-4-cyanophenyl)-1,5-dithio-β-D-xylopyranoside. n USE: An anti-thrombosis, especially, an anti-phlebemphraxis agent. n PROCESS: A compd. represented by formula II and a thioxylose deriv. selected from the group consisting of halogenoacylthioxyloside and acylthioxyloside represented by formulae III, IV (wherein Hal is halogen such as Cl or Br and Y is acyl, pref., acetyl) are reacted in an inert solvent in the presence of an acid receiver or Lewis acid so that a thioxylose derivative is 1.1-1.2 mol. per 1 mol. of the compd. represented by the formula II and, if necessary, the reaction product is deacylated in methanol in the presence of magnesium methylate to obtain the compd. represented by formula I (wherein Y is H). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
