abstract | NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula II (R 1 is OH-protecting group or aryl; X is halogen). n EXAMPLE: (5R)-1-(2'-bromopropionyl)-5-triphenyloxymethylpyrrolidin-2-one. n USE: A drug. A synthetic intermediate for 1-alkylcarbapenem compounds of e.g. formula I (R 2 is H or OH-protecting group) useful especially as an antibacterial agent. n PREPARATION: The objective compound of formula II is produced by reacting the compound of formula III with a protecting reagent of formula R 1 L (L is halogen or eliminable group of active ester) such as trityl chloride in an inert solvent (e.g. dichloromethane) in the presence of an acid scavenger (e.g. triethylamine or dimethylaminopyridine) and reacting the resultant compound of formula IV with a compound of formula V (Z=L) (e.g. α-bromopropionyl bromide) in a solvent (e.g. tetrahydrofuran) in the presence of a base (e.g. NaOH) at -80-+50°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
