abstract | PURPOSE: To improve purity and yield by adding a dialkylzinc to an α,β-unsaturated ketone in the presence of a nickel compound and three specific kinds of compounds in obtaining the subject compound which is an intermediate for medicines, agricultural chemicals and information electronic materials, such as liquid crystal material. n CONSTITUTION: A dialkylzinc is added to a compound expressed by formula I (R 1 and R 2 are H, hydroxyl, nitro, amino, etc.; m and n are 1-3) in the presence of a bivalent nickel compound [e.g. nickel (II) acetylacetonate or nickel acetate] and at least three kinds of compounds respectively selected from the groups (a) to (c) coordinative with the nickel to afford a compound expressed by formula II (R 3 is 1-6C alkyl; * indicates asymmetric carbon atom).
