abstract NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula (wherein Glu is a glucose unit; R 1 is 8-18C alkyl in an acetal bond; R 2 is 1-4C alkyl or arylmethyl in an ether bond; (m) is 1-10; and (n) is 0.1 m-2 m). n USE: A surface active agent in a cleaner, a detergent and an individual cosmetics compsn. n PROCESS: A compd. of 0.1-1 mmol. represented by the formula, R 2 -X (X is a nucleophilic starting group) (e.g. methylchloride, benzylchloride) is reacted with 1 mol. of glucoside represented by the formula, Glu n -R 1 .
